Frequently Asked Questions

Please read the entire FAQ. It answers pretty much every question we receive.

WE ARE CLOSED until LATE-MAY 2026.

When can we come pick?

Pick-your-own dates are announced only a few days ahead of time, and reservations are required to attend.

Our picking season typically lasts about 10 weeks, running from late May through early August. After that, the farm closes for the season and reopens the following May.

We usually offer picking opportunities about three days per week. Each picking day lasts three hours total and is broken into one-hour arrival windows, so you can choose the time that works best for you. All guests must complete checkout within 30 minutes after the final arrival window closes.

How will I know when a pick is happening?

Upcoming pick dates are announced through:

  • Our homepage

  • Email updates

  • Facebook

  • Instagram

We send weekly emails letting you know what’s ripening and what to expect, but we do not send emails for every single picking date. To stay informed, you’ll need to check the platforms listed above regularly.

—> You can join our email list on the homepage by signing up for the “Till & Keep Farm Update List.”

Important:
Reservations cannot be made by email or social media messages. All bookings must be completed through the reservation widget on this website.

Why do you require reservations?

We run our farm using a reservation-based system, similar to a restaurant. We limit how many people can arrive each hour so that:

  • Lines stay short

  • There’s plenty available to pick

  • Guests have a relaxed, enjoyable experience

  • We’re able to offer personal help and attention

Before each pick, we carefully evaluate how much produce is ready and then release a limited number of reservation spots on our website.

Because growing conditions change quickly, reservations only open a few days in advance — we simply can’t predict availability further out than that.

Admission & Booking Details

Regular Admission:

  • $3 + tax per person (children 5 and under free)

Admission must be booked in advance for your selected arrival time. Walk-ins are not permitted.

Reservation spots will open a few days before each pick, and a countdown timer on the website will show exactly when booking becomes available.

Please book one admission per person you plan to bring to the farm except children 5 and younger

It’s not letting me book a spot right now!

If reservations aren’t showing as available, one of three things is happening:

  • Spots haven’t been released yet

  • The pick is already full

  • There are no picking days scheduled at the moment

We only open reservations a few days in advance, so if you don’t see anything yet, check back soon.

Can I just stop by without a reservation?

If it’s not a scheduled pick day, the farm is closed to visitors. Please don’t drop in — we don’t allow walk-ins.

When we’re not hosting pick-your-own, we’re actively working in the fields caring for the crops that make picking possible.

Is there a secret trick to getting a spot? They fill up so fast!

Honestly? Timing and a little luck.

Weekend spots tend to book the quickest. Your best bet is to be on the booking page when reservations open and refresh right when they drop.

One helpful tip: if you miss them at first, try checking back 10–15 minutes later. Unfinished reservations will time out and return to the system, making a few spots available again.

I booked a spot, but can’t make it anymore

Please cancel your reservation so another family can use it!

To cancel, simply reply to your confirmation email and let us know.
To receive a refund, cancellations must be made before midnight the night prior to your scheduled pick. Refunds may take a few days to process.

Admission fees are not refundable if:

  • You don’t show up

  • You cancel after midnight the night before

  • You bring fewer people than you reserved for

When will spots be released for [the date I want]?

Reservations are released only a couple of days before each pick.

We can’t release tickets further in advance because we don’t know how much will be ready to harvest until we’re close to the date.

I want to come in a few weeks, but I don’t see anything listed. Are you closed?

Nope — that just means reservations haven’t opened yet.

We never release spots more than a few days ahead of time. With roughly 30–40 picking days each season, there will be plenty of opportunities to visit.

Should I arrive early to stand in line?

No need!

If you’ve reserved a time slot, you’ll enter the field at the same time as everyone else in that slot. The parking lot opens 15 minutes before the first arrival window, and picking does not begin before that time.

Plan to arrive at the start of your reserved hour so you have plenty of time to pick. Final checkout is 30 minutes after the last time slot ends, which is when the farm closes — especially important if you’ve booked the final slot of the day.

What will be available to pick?

Availability changes throughout the season.

  • Late May-mid June: raspberries (and limited strawberries), plus beets, onions, garlic, carrots, and broccolini

  • Late June–July: blackberries, cucumbers, green beans, tomatoes, peppers, squash, and more

We expect the season to wrap up in early August.

Produce availability and quantities are never guaranteed, especially during the final picking hour of the day. We carefully limit reservations to match what’s ready, but we can’t always predict how much will be picked before you arrive.

How much does it cost?

Pricing varies by crop. We grow using regenerative, chemical-free practices to provide high-quality, responsibly grown produce.

Current pricing (subject to change):

  • Blackberries and Raspberries $8/lb

  • Strawberries $6/lb

  • Carrots: $4.50/lb

  • Beets: $3/lb

  • Broccolini: $3/lb

  • Onions: $2.50/lb

  • Garlic: $2 each

  • Green beans: $3/lb

  • Summer squash: $2.50/lb

  • Cucumbers: $2.50/lb

  • Slicing tomatoes: $3/lb

  • Cherry tomatoes: $4.50/lb

  • Bell peppers: $6/lb

  • Hot peppers: $9/lb

  • Cantaloupes: $2/lb

  • Flowers: $10 to fill a cup

Our prices align with other local chemical-free growers at farmers’ markets, as well as prices for organic produce at the supermarket

You’re welcome to pick as much or as little as you like — just remember: if you pick it, you buy it. Please keep an eye on children, and don’t pick more than you can use. Deliberately discarding good produce in the field may result in loss of future picking privileges.

Will you have berries the day I come?

We can’t guarantee any specific crop on any specific day.

If you need guaranteed availability and exact quantities, a grocery store may be a better fit. As a small farm, what’s available depends on the season, the weather, and how much has already been picked before you arrive.

How does pick-your-own work?

When you arrive, you’ll check in by name at the entrance. We’ll provide a bucket or basket and explain what’s ready and how to harvest properly.

From there, head into the rows and enjoy picking fresh produce with your family. Signage and staff will be available to help guide you.

When you’re finished, return to the tent to have your harvest weighed and totaled.

Do you take cash or cards?

We accept credit and debit cards.
Cash is always appreciated since card processing fees do add up.

What should I bring or wear?

  • A reusable bag for taking produce home (we will have plastic bags available if needed)

  • Closed-toed shoes

  • A hat and sunscreen

  • Long sleeves and pants are recommended

  • Boots if the ground is wet

  • Bug spray if you prefer

Will there be bugs?

Yes! We don’t use synthetic pesticides, so you’ll see insects — many of them are beneficial to the farm ecosystem.

Can I bring my dog?

For food safety reasons, pets are not allowed on the farm.

Is there a restroom?

Yes — we have a well-maintained portable restroom, serviced weekly.

What if it rains?

We stay open during light rain, but will close for thunder or lightning.

If weather forces a cancellation, we’ll announce it on social media and send an email and text notification. Decisions are made the morning of the pick, since forecasts can change quickly.

Do you grow or sell [item]?

We do not grow blueberries, corn, or pumpkins, nor do we sell eggs or milk.

Currently, we grow:

  • Strawberries (limited)

  • Blackberries (limited)

  • Raspberries

  • Carrots, beets, onions, garlic

  • Cucumbers

  • bell peppers and hot peppers

  • Slicing & cherry tomatoes

  • Cantaloupes

  • Summer squash

  • Green beans

  • Broccolini

  • Flowers (sunflowers, snapdragons, zinnias, and more)

Do you sell produce elsewhere or take orders?

Pick-your-own is our primary sales method. Occasionally, we may attend the Bardstown Farmers Market if we have surplus produce.

We do not take pre-orders and do not operate a farm stand.

Why didn’t you reply to my message?

Till & Keep Farm is run by two people, a full-time teacher and a homemaker raising four little ones — there’s no office staff here.

Between planting, harvesting, mowing, pruning, trellising, weeding, fertilizing, pest management, scheduling picks, updating the website, posting on social media, and washing baskets, we stay pretty full.

The best way to get information is always through our website and official updates.
